    Cable & Wireless Dongle

OK, I bought this to be able to play Mario Kart on-line through my eMac. It states that Mac OS 9.x doesn't require driver software but I take it there is more to getting this working than plugging it into the back of the keyboard right?

I'm desperate to get on-line play out of this so please can anybody run me through what I need to do? (The instructions harp on about using it to store data but not interested in that) And speak slowly cos I is thick

Alternatively I have a PC sitting a few meters from me that I could use if peeps aren't sure about the eMac way to go...

The usb at the back of the keyboard is probably not powerful enough to run it,although you would be told that on screen.

The emac's usb sockets are recesed (sp?) so you'll probably need a usb extension (nice one Apple)- i know i do for an ipod shuffle.

there is a USB extension lead in the box yeah (was with mine), I just plugged it in (PC not Mac), installed the software on the CD and in the settings, set it to an Access Point and it works fine. Takes under 60 secs

I'm on Mac OS X Version 10.3.9 but figured if it was OK for OS9...so basically this can't easily be done on a Mac then. I'm getting really fooked of with Nintendo going on about how easy it is to play on-line - in my expereince thats total balls >_<

But then I dont even know how I turn this dongle thing on so I guess its easy if you know what your doing and I'm shocked to see that so many people do o_O

Any idea how it works with a PC?

EDIT - Cheers David, will hijack the PC at lunch and give it a go. Fingers crossed

Do you want me to have a go with it? I have the usb extension, and an emac,so should work. Im sure it will work with a MAC,they are normally just plug and go.

Yes please mate - I have got as far as putting in the disc and double clicking on "Setup.exe". It asks me what application I want to use and I start to hear the Magic Roundabout music playing in my head...

Got the correct 802.11g Wireless Lan Mini USB adaptor last night - now can anybody please tell me how this works on a Mac??? The CD gives me a folder with a bunch of stuff in it instead of just bringing up an instal screen.

If anybody has this C&W running on a Mac please PM me or kindly run through it here!!! I can't be the only one going through this torture surely???

Sorry, I'm very dramatic first thing in the morning

to be honest mate, you're on a mac. you shouldn't need ANY drivers installed.

at worst, look for an icon like a little yellow box/package with the name .pkg at the end of it on the CD, that might be your installer.

I got nothing with .pkg on the CD. Ignoring the CD then as I'm on a Mac I would need to link the USB to teh net some how wouldn't I?

Why can't we be on PCs at work >_<
