    D-Pads on 360 controllers

Does anybody else have problems with their D-pads sometimes not registering light taps? When i'm quickly flicking through menus or using the on-screen keyboard it just gets on my nerves the way if you quickly tap it, it doesn't register.

Both the wired controllers I have do this. It's no big deal as they work with a tiny, tiny little bit more pressure, but on one controller, it won't register down if you press it too light, and on my other, same with left.

Not a fault, it's definately bearable, but i'm just wondering...

On a lighter note, the wired controllers also work on PC.

Yes. The 'down' on my dpad is a bit iffy, but the rest is fine on mine.

I'm also getting some unresponsiveness on D-Pad Down with a wired pad. I don't notice it unless I'm in the menus though, oddly enough.

          Yea, that's the thing.

I only ever notice it unless i'm in menus or using the on-screen keyboard.

I've just been using a controller to play Battle Bakraid on MAME and the d-pad's been wonderful.

Maybe we're just subconsiously 'tapping' through the menus, and when we play the games we push down a little harder... Hmmm.

It's natural to press harder during games and tap through menus. The only time it annoys me is when I'm trying to write a message, I even end up using the stick sometimes.

I feel the 'down' to be less than perfect, but I only noticed it after reading it here.

Compared to other god-awful D-Pads on todays controllers (the terrible GC one in particular), the 360 one ain't do bad. Least the 360 one has diagonals - hate the Nintendo cross D-Pad.

My left does the same. It'll work ok sometimes, but when it dosen't it actually makes a different sound - more of a tapping sound.

I do, left and up on the d-pad are a bit unresponsive compared to right and down, I have to press them harder for them to respond.

While playing Hexic today I noticed that right felt worse and now it barely works at all unless you press it really hard. I haven't even played a proper 360 game yet. Not impressed!

I'll exchange it for another, but I've heard that this d-pad problem is widespread.
