    Commander Keen series

Am I right in thinking that Apogee hasn't allowed this to be classed as abandonware and has exercised their rights over the games?
It doesn't appear to be listed on Home of the Underdogs. I fancied a bash at them anyway coz I remember them being quite fun on the old 486
Will I have to try and obtain them via more nefarious methods instead?

    Yeah, it's not abandonware.

You can still buy and download the first 5 games from Apogee:

Or you can order the first 5 on CD.

Keen 6 (Aliens at my Babysitter) and Keen Dreams aren't owned by Apogee (FormGen published Keen 6 and SoftDisk published Dreams) so that's why those are missing. You'll have to go down the 'nefarious' route to get those, I think.

Some of my favourite games as a kid.

Hmm interesting. Thanks for the info.
For some reason I thought 3DRealms had disappeared/died, obviously I was wrong.

And apart from being by the same company, are Commander Keen and Duke Nukem linked in any story-based way?

        No no and double no.
        GOD no.
Keen is holy and Nukem (past the first 2D one) is trash.
        For shame!
