Free MP3 compressor

The software I was using to compress mp3s has expired and I'm far too tight to buy anything.

Anything free recommended that I can use to compress mp3s to fit on my phone?

CDex can compress to Mp3 from files as well as CD, and supports LAME Mp3. Go for CDex!

If you're encoding to mp3, you'd be mad to use anything other than LAME and the front-end of your choice.

Thanks for the replies people.

CDex seems to like to crash on me when it gets to 99% complete on compressing any track, but LAME & Razorlame are working nicely as we speak.
