GBA games for a 5 year old girl

Its my nieces birthday soon and my sister wants to get her a GBA and some games, and as I play games she asked me for recommendations. However I have no idea what GBA are suitable for such an age.

Anyone on here got suggestions for games she can play and understand?

    Thanks in advance.

    chu chu rocket
    mario kart
mario world (might be a little bit much, but she'd grow in to it)
mr driller A or R(JPN only I think)
    kuru kuru kururin (sp?)
super monkey ball (well, I like it, and it is a simple concept)
made in wario! (surely the best choice)

I'm just thinking of easily graspable concepts here really.

Chu chu rocket and kuru kuru kurunin (sp?) I think may be a bit tricky as will SMB Jr. They are simple in concept but I think you need to be quite good at games before getting the most out of them.

She has played on Mario World and isnt too bad at it so it is a possibility. Made in Wario is a very good possibility and the multiple choice questions will help with her reading.

I was thinking of the Mary Kate and Ashley type games to be honest. This will be her first console, and I think these sort of games may appeal to her more at this time. But which MK&A games are good (and that is good in the loosest sense)?

I will get her a couple of the proper games, but I think she needs to be introduced to them gently. Thats why one of the Barbie or child franchises would be good too. I just dont know which one.

Maybe there is a decent Disney film game on the GBA. In fact isnt the snes version of Aladdin getting ported over? Maybe that should be the one to go for.

The Barbie game is crap, just generic duff games with Barbie on the box.

Disney Pricesses is crap, but Lilo and Stitch, Finding Nemo and Jungle Book 2 are Ok, as is Peter Pan.

Dora the Explorer is one I'd recommend, a pretty simple platformer.

The Britney game is a little repetative, may bore the kid to tears in a few minutes.

I'd recommend you get the GBA emulator and find a source for ROMS which you can then trial before splashing the cash. (note, not advocating piracy, pure and simple trial before buying).

SOR- I think there is too much text in Pokemon games at her age.

Wicky- Thanks for the suggestion. I have never heard her mention Britney before though so dont know how interested she would be.

2 point- Thanks for the list. I think Lilo and Stitch and the Jungle Book 2 could be winners. She loves the films, and she quite enjoyed playing on the snes version of the original Jungle book.

Thanks for everyones suggestions, keep them coming

The sonic games are pretty basic

and a quick look on the Game site showed a Disney snowboarding game, a tarzan game, an atlantis game

You could try the rayman or crash games too

I think I am going to suggest a Sonic game, Lilo and Stitch and Crash Bandicoot. They should keep her quiet for a little while at least.

                      Thanks for all the suggestions.

If it's not too late - I'd suggest the first Super Mario Advance.

The concepts involved are quite simple, but there's room for getting her brain engaged ... Colourful graphics - flowers, fluffy clouds, princesses - what 5 year-old girl could resist all this ?

                        S.

My 7yr old cousins favourite games were Harry Potter (there were two i think), Tetris and Yoshi's Island which she loves and was actually insanely good at. She asked me to help her get past a level which she was stuck on, and it turned out to be the penultimate level

She has played Yoshis Island a couple of times on my snes but she cant quite get the egg throwing. Im sure after a few months playing on the GBA she will improve though, and I will get it for xmas for her, as it is a great game.
