I think the best thing for you to get would be the official nintendo wifi- usb adaptor

then you just plug it into your internet-enabled pc, install the software, and you're away

they can be had for around 25-30 pounds, although getting one in this country at present is proving to be very hard, and you'll probably have to import.

its a little thing, looks like a USB pen drive

do you have a wi-fi router already in your house?

the DS connects via wifi to your existing internet connection. but if you havent got a wifi router, access point, or the USB nintendo dongle, you will need a way of getting online with the DS wifi-wise. it doesnt come with an RJ45 network connector.

They route the internet around your house via wifi, they can be purchased for about 40 pounds, like I said before, it seems you have one PC and just need the official USB adaptor by nintendo which will give you wifi access _just_ for DS.. it would be perfect for you.

no, but try asking in the wanted section here, or maybe ordering from somewhere like videogamesplus.ca (is that the right url?)

so basically, i bought myself a DS on sat with a USB adapter to go WiFI...after mcuh messing around i finally got it to work and i had alot of fun playing random people from around the world. though since then i've been having problem connecting to the wifi service - i can connect to the USB ok but when it tries to connect to the server it does'nt work.

not sure if it's because the service is slow or really cr.ap?

any advice on how i can make it easier to connect, what annoysme is that you have to turn off all your security inc firewalls for the bloody thing to work, how stupid is that?

                      congrats on getting online

                      1) the service is not slow or useless, all depends how you are connected.

                      2) its definately your firewall, some even enforce rules when not running, welcome to the stupid world of windows where everyone needs a personal firewall. I just play online through the firewall upstairs, works 100% fine.

                      3) You dont have to turn off your firewalls to get them to work, just set them up properly.

                      4) if you had bought the true network WAN Router/hub, it would have a built in firewall and you wouldn't need to run the shoddy windows personal firewall anymore.

                      hope this helps!

thanks for the help, is there anything i can do to get around the firewall problem, i've turned off the firewall in network connection settings and i've closed down Zone alarm but still no luck??

is there anything i can change in the settings to get around the problem?

                        thanks!

also, where can i get a cheap router/hub that you have and how does it connect to your PC?

You got Norton 2005? You have to allow the NintendoWiFi prog access in the Internal Worm section to allow it to do its magic. Just one of a number of other things you may need to consider that could be blocking connection.

Cheap router here (assuming it's an ADSL connection). It connects via ethernet, so just a normal piece of network cable. You set it up via its own webpage once you connect it, and then it's pretty much set to go. If you went for a little more on the budget front you could get a wireless one, then you wouldn't even have to have the PC on when you wanted to go online, as you wouldn't need the wifi dongle.
