Questions about the Revolution.

Excuse my limited knowledge on the subject .

Have 2 cubes in the house, and from the little bit I've read, assume they will be redundant when the Revolution is released (when is that by by the way, and how much is it likely to cost?).

So thinking about selling 1 of my cubes to help recover from christmas, and just wondered whether I should be offloading the official RGB cable as well. Is it likely to be compatable with the Revolution. If so, I'll hang onto it as they seem rather scarce at the mo.

Well, yes I suppose the revolution would make the gamecube quite obsolete since it would be backwards compatible with cube games and gamecube controllers.

It's supposed to be released sometime around summer of next year. Price-wise I don't think it would be more than $200.

Not sure about the official RGB cable though... sorry!

Dude jus keep a hold of everything as you will never re coup anything major back, and you can always earn you money back. But yah games and stuff cant. Besides, GC's are so cheap these days. You'll be virtually giving em away.

Yeah I suppose you have a point....I've got the zelda and the donkey konga packages (both minty ) which I'd like to keep. Just can't see the cube have the same 'must keep appeal' as the older consoles though. Probably as they'll be running with the same format (i.e., discs as opposed to cartridges). Perhaps I'm being a little short sighted though.

Will the revolution play GBA games as well, or will you have to fork out for another attachment like the Gameboy player?

Ans presumably, although it's wireless, it'll still have plug points for the bongos mat, etc. as well?

Keep the GC packs and sell them in a decade or two.

Besides GameCube emulation on the Rev may not be 100%.

You should definitely keep the cable though, I see no reason why Nintendo would move away from the Multi-out connector really, and if the pins are different it'd take about 5 minutes to change the wiring over in the cable. Easier than selling it for ?2 now and paying Nintendo 20 quid for the same thing next year.

Why??

The older consoles only have more appeal now they are older.
When the NES was being replaced by the SNES you could pick up a unit for under ?15, look at the SNES, they were the same. And the DC, you could buy them new in packs for ?19.99 at one point.

Problem with keeping consoles though is this, I really wanted to keep my SNES stuff when the Jap PSX was released but back then the ?250 I got for the SNES, 20 odd import carts, multitap and 4 controllers was the only way I could have afforded a PSX on Jap launch so I sold them all.
Now if I add up what it would cost me today to buy that SNES stuff it is around ?500ish, so now thwice the price, but to be honest it doesn't really matter as ?500 now is nothing compared with what ?250 was back then, if that makes sense.

Back in 1994 or 1995 what ever it was, I had my student grant and earnt ?30 a week on with a saturday job, so I had less coming in to me in a year than I do now in a fortnight.
So I would say if you need to sell them do so, you will find it easier to buy them all back when it becomes retro than hold on to them now.
