Gamecube Cable Advise: Which to buy

Hey guys, had my LCD sammy 26" (the one most people have brought) for a few weeks and unable to get a 360 thought i'd give my gamecube a try and play some of my games in progressive scan.

Now which cable out of these two would give the best results on my LCD

    Thanks

The component cable. The dvideo cable is a japan specific connection that won't be of any use to you.

Those prices are brilliant, shame Im after a RGB scart connector and I dont have a telly that can take component.

Not sure if this is a dumb arse question, but here goes

What about sound? This component cable only takes video right (RGB) and nomally component has five cables three for video and 2 for sound right?

You use the standard cable (red and white phonos) for sound. The two cables plug into different ports.

One more thing, i've just been to this site,

Which told me that Metroid Prime and RE4 were both 480p but not 16:9,

Now i'm going to be playing these on a widescreen lcd so does that mean i will only get 480p if played in 4:3 or will it just stretch the 480p image to fit my widescreen tv.

I know i'm getting pretty anal here but its worth knowing none the less

Btw, hope you have an NTSC gamecube? Pal ones don't do Prog scan without jiggery pokery.

For metroid prime (if that website is correct), then set your screen to 4:3 and have borders either side, otherwise it will look wrong. For RE4, it's 4:3 but with the top and bottom chopped off so it appears like 16:9. Probably best to auto zoom so it fills the screen.

That will be down to your TV, some force it to be widescreen.

Yeah no worries on the gamecube front, i've had my us cube since launch but now the "HD era" is here thought i'd try it out.

Partly right - PAL cubes can do prog scan just the same as NTSC cubes, but unless you're using a Qoob chip to force prog scan then you still need to be running prog scan-compatible (i.e. NTSC) games - either by using a modchip or by using FreeLoader.
