Metroid Prime: stuck in Geothermal Core

I'm on my way to the plasmabeam upgrade in the Geothermal Core. I jumped up the two ledges, used the grapplebeam to get to the first platform, spinned, jumped, spinned, and so forth.

All platforms are up, I was on my way along the magnetic railtracks, when I fell because of lack of attention on my part.

So I tried to go through the whole sequence again... and got stuck. Why? The grapplebeam doesn't get me to the first platform anymore, because the upper part has been spun upwards, and the lower part is not as wide as the upper part.

And now I keep missing the narrower platform by some millimetres, whatever I try. As far as I know, and have tried, there is no way to get more speed in the swinging grapplebeam.

And I wouldn't know how to get the platforms back into their original positions (except with the spinners, which I can't reach, because I can't reach the platform in the first place).

Even GameFAQs don't offer any text on this possibility. So, someone, anyone, please... HELP!!!

I remember having a similar problem. I fell, but had trouble getting up again. I think it was me just being rubbish though. And I can't remember how I sorted it out. Totally helpful.... sorry.

Just so you don't think we're all ignoring you. I too remember this problem. I think I just went the long way around. (Practically everywhere in Metroid Prime is accessible from another entrance.)

It's been so long since I last played it now that it's all gone a little foggy.

Just keep at it. It'll all come to light eventually.

Thanks guys. I made it finally, at long last, eventually, but I can only manage it twice out of a hundred tries... I'm probably just very clumsy with the grapplebeam or something...

Anyway, that obstacle has been conquered, so onwards we go!
