    Xbox 360 overheating?

    Hi,

Today I put my 360 in an AV cabinet, which to be honest is only ventilated by a largish hole on the left for all the wires to go through-and there's a glass door on the front. It does get quite hot in there with the 360...and whilst playing Call Of Duty, it just switched off but had the top left and bottom left lights on and staying on red. After cutting off the power and putting it on again, it works fine.

Would that have been as it was overheating, and is the best solution not to leave it in such an enclosed space? Judging by the massive fan noise it makes and the heat it and the PSU gives off, I wouldn't be surprised. Also, I'm guessing the console itself gives off all the heat rather than the PSU...though the PSU is behind the 360 in the cabinet, so maybe if I took it out that would help. It looks all nice in there and there's nowhere else really accessible to put it. Thanks!

I should think so, yes, although your 360 might be faulty, I've already seen another person on here have a dead drive out of the box.
No way you can at least have the PSU outside the cabinet and have the wire running through the hole?
Get a cheap little thermometer or whatever and stick it in there before you turn the console on, note the enclosed box temperature, play for a few hours then check it again and see if there's a significant temperature difference.

SO after reading all the posts about making sure you keep the 360 well ventilated and away from heat sources you decided to put it in an enclosed cabinet?

I think the solution is pretty clear. Get it out of there.
