    Recommend me a TV!

I basically want a new 21 inch TV that is compatible with 60hz and NTSC. I was in Currys earlier and was looking at this model: http://www.currys.co.uk/product.php?sku=156683.

It has virtual surround, 2 SCARTS etc but there was nowhere to say that it would be NTSC compatible (the sales staff were like, what is NTSC? ARRRGH!) and the only bit of spec info I found online claimed it to be 50Hz only. Is this doubtful? Do you think that 60Hz in games would be fine on the TV?

Try Samsung web site. If in doubt try Sony Trinton model instead.

Its a bit confusing... From Samsung website:
      NTSC 3.58 - No
      NTSC 4.43, VIT - Yes
Scan System (out of) PAL : Natural Scan (Full 100Hz)/ Digital Scan(B100Hz)/ 50Hz - 50Hz (note that 60hz isn't an option)

Does this mean that it wouldn't handle a 60hz mode in games?

I've got that TV. It supports both NTSC 3.58 and 4.43 so you'll be fine. It's an excellent TV and a bargain at that price.

Thats OK, as long as it supports 60hz in my games without going funny and I can play import stuff! Cheers Gossi!

I bought the Television and the picture is slightly tilted to one side, which is quite annoying. There is no option on the menus as in the manual (says its for certain models, obviously not this one)... Do you know if there is there any way to rectify this on this model? I've looked around the website and on google but no luck

maybe the tv has a secret service menu, used by technicians, to rectify this kind of stuff. accessing s.m.'s require pressing a code on the remote, don't know where the code for your tv is though. either that or, if the tilting is unbearable, go to dixon/where you bought the tv and ask for a technician to look at your set and fix it. some shops have this kind of service for free the 1. year after purchase or something similiar.

Hmmm, maybe I should phone the samsung customer service and ask. Its not that big a deal, only noticeable if you look for it but it would be nice to rid of it. I'll ring them and ask tomorrow.

last few smaller CRT TVs I've had have all had a slightly wonky slant on them :/ I even paid a bloody TV Repair place to fix it an they didn't, jus managed to knackered my SCART sockets up.

Tbh one thing I'd say makes a HUGE difference with CRTs is getting a flat screen, the image just looks so much nicer than curved screens do.

Yeah it is a flat screen one. Lovely picture, happy with everything I can do with it but annoyed that the tilt feature doesnt feature in this model. Its in the manual, taunting me! Its fine on full screen aspect but whenever theres a border its slanted. I'll just stop consciously looking at it eventually. And watch films with my head slanted...
