Will this series ever get a western release??

I've been waiting patiently for years to no avail.

Typical Sega:

"Let's create a superlative, long running RPG series that will take the world by storm and make us lots of money. Yeah but let's only release the entire series in Japan." Doh.

I do seem to remember years ago some Sakura games being released in the states.

Are the Japanese games at all playable by non Japanese speakers.

Sak Taisen 5 is "supposidly" heading for a US PS2 release.

The Japanese on isn't even finished so its going to be a very long wait.

http://lando.ngphouse.com/sakura/ has very good text translations for each of the games (also available on GameFAQs).

I briefly tried playing with the translations, and it didn't seem too bad at all, although it's obviously not going to be quite the same as if you were fluent in reading Japanese.

I really want to get into playing these, but I just don't have the time to devote to them at the moment.

And from what I understand, the US is getting an "Action" version of Sakura Taisen 5 on PS2, but I'm not quite sure what sort of game it would be.
