Freeloader Question (Strange Text)

I've got the old action replay freeloader 1.06b and have never had any problems with any games but recently I picked up Japanese copies of Kururin Squash & Sonic Mega Collection.

While both games play fine on my UK Gamecube, I noticed that that some of the Japanese in game text is wrongly displayed as English symbols and so it looks like: "* ()&**-/ff.

Is this a known problem with freeloader and is there any way to fix the problem?

It's because the Japanese character set doesn't exist in the English language Cube ROM and hence some symbols can't be displayed properly. A by-product of running the game with Freeloader on a PAL Cube.
