Dreamcast 60hz not working properly on LCD TV

    Hi,

I have a new Panasonic HD TV and have no problems running both my PS2 and Gamecube in 60hz mode, as one would expect with such a nifty tv. However, if I try and play any 60hz games on the DC (PAL, or import using DC-X), the screen is shifted to the left so everything is off-centre and the right-side border takes up about a fifth of the screen.

I have a PAL DC with a 3rd-party RGB SCART. Could anyone give me their opinion on what might be at fault here - the console or the lead?

Just for ref, it works fine in 50hz.

    Any help much appreciated.

    TT.

It may be the lead not being wired for auto RGB centering, or something like that.

Does your TV have some sort or auto or manual centering option?

btw you wanna go VGA with the DC if your set has a VGA or DVI-I.

I've just bought a new JVC 32" PAL (but fully NTSC playback compatible) widescreen CRT and I've got what sounds like very similar problems and only with DC.

The left shift is caused by the RGB SCART connection - it's unavoidable. Some TV's correct it automatically or have manual recentring options.

My PAL DC works fine with PAL games through RGB SCART (apart from left shift) at 50Hz but select any PAL game's 60Hz option and the screen blanks out. Similarly. when I use a DC-X Change disc to boot import NTSC games it works BUT the screen blanks out halfway through the process.

What's odd is that both my PAL PSOne + PS-X Change and chipped XBox work perfectly (via RGB SCART). What is it about this DC/TV combo that is preventing 60Hz/NTSC play?. .

I have exact same problem using PAL DC on the plasma screen using VGA. S-video/Composite were fine though...
I just use one of spare NTSC DC that chip'd for normal use and PAL DC is stored away for backup... Sorry not much of help
