    Xbox: Which cable For HD?

    Hey Hey

Which would be the best cable for the xbox and my new samsung hdtv?
I tried using the rgb scart lead but the ms dashboard settings had no option for 420p/720p1080i/HDTV listed so i must assume i'll need some sort of component/hd cable?

links to the product would help too if possible.

    many thanks in advance

You need an NTSC console, or enable an NTSC dashboard. Microsoft oddly stripped the PAL unit of using a progressive scan mode.

Oh yeah, and progressive scan modes only show up when a component cable is connected.

          Guys

I just read that the VGA input is meant to be awesome for HDTV and your 'old' xbox, is it better than component?

There's no official VGA output for the XBox anyway. All the XBox VGA adaptors such as the X2VGA simply transcode the Component image. It looks great, but no better than the Component source is already.

You can use various bioses to 'force' VGA output (the IND-5003 bios seems the most compatible, V1.0-1.5. No bios supports VGA for V1.6+ yrt), I am looking into them, but probably need more work than the incremental picture quality boost is worth.

              Component's the way to go.

I used to have an X2VGA+ but it wouldn't work at all with my Samsung lcd tv & as Shakey_Jake33 says the quality isn't any better than component anyway.
