Secured myself a Jap PS2 (yaay!).

The burning question.....

Will it play US NTSC PS1 games?

If it does, how much is a multi-region PS1 worth unboxed as will have one for sale soon.

Nah - second hand - but not too worried, I can just keep my PS1. I have only got five US games anyhow - Strider 2, Contra, Puzzle Fighter, Silhouette Mirage and SOTN. Ta for quick response lads

I run US PSone games on my Jap PS2 using a Breaker Pro disc (ntsc version) so technically you can get 'em running.

Probably not worth the bother though Sean as you need to swap discs around & have something like a Magic Switch/ slide tool fitted.

Yeah - as you say - not worth the hassle. I get pissed off enough using the GC freeloader - and I only have one NTSC game for that!!! My trusty PS1 will do the job for me when I need him, and cannot see myself buying many other US games. Got that Divide: Enemies Within on the way, mind.

Will be mainly conentrating on all the lovely SNK-related stuff and shooters for Jap PS2. Mmmmmmmm.
