Getting the best picture quality from a PAL Gamecube?

I am currently using the A/V cable that came with my Gamecube but was wondering if it it worth getting a better one to improve picture quality?. My TV (32" flatscreen crt sony) has S-Video, Component the regular scart and phonos.

It is a PAL Gamecube but it is the Resident Evil 4 edition so it has the extra connector on the back which they seem to have removed from the new ones.

Also is it possible to hook it up to my pc monitor? It's a TFT Samsung 181T or am I right in thinking you can only do that with an NTSC GC and only with certain games?.

    TIA

iirc RGB scart will be the best you can get as component is only available on a pal cube when it's been modded

I see, if I did get component working I noticed the cable only has red, green and blue connectors? I presume these are all video so how would I go about connecting the sound?.

With the red/white leads of the cable that you already have.

and the component cables will onyl be of any use if you are playing US games on it.

so if its a UK cube for Uk games, RGB is the best you can get.

Thanks for the replys all, I'll be playing NTSC games.

Can anyone answer my questions about using my TFT PC monitor though?.

You can use a Component cable on a UK Cube. But UK games will be limited to interlaced. A lot of US games support Progressive Scan, but not all.

As for your question about the TFT PC monitor, pretty much all PC monitors only support Progressive Scan. Assuming your monitor supports Component (or you have a Component-to-VGA transcoder), you will be limited to Progressive Scan games, unless you are lucky enough to have a PC monitor that supports interlaced.
You will also have to 'blindly' enable Progressive Scan mode, since the default in interlaced.

There is a modchip called Qoob which can force many (not all) games into 480p, which helps.
