Will i be able to comfortably play 480p PS2 games on a VGA monitor?

I have got a cube with component cable, and a VGA transcoder, the image on my computer screen is great.

I know there are quite a few NTSC PS2 games with 480p options but what it worries me is that.

-AFAIK you have to navigate in the menus to activate the 480p
-AFAIK there is no cable with both component&composite output*.This might be a problem, when i am using the cube if the console for some reason swicht to interlaced i can see what is happening because i have the composite conected to a standard TV.

If you play your PS2 on a VGA screen just tell me about that.

Take the green component cable and connect it to a composite video input on a TV (or use a SCART adaptor if you have to). You should get a black and white image that is good enough to navigate to the games menu and enable 480p. Then switch back over to your transcoder.
