Not import friendly, all the voices are in Japanese aswell as the subtitles if you enable them. Tom speaks English, as do a few other characters I think but compared to the hundreds of NPCs in the game that's not really anything special.

EDIT: Whoops! Thought you was talking about Shenmue 1. It's the same with Shenmue 2 except Tom isn't in Shenmue 2. Infact, noone talks English In Shenmue 2 at all!

Tomu is in shenmue 2, but only for a wee bit.

That's Wang. Wang worked for the Ajiichi resturaunt in Shenmue, Wangs brother is in Shenmue 2 inside the Yan Tin Apartments

Why don't you just get the UK version?

Jap voices, (which is nice), and English subtitles.

Exactly. I played through the Xbox version mostly out of comedic curiosity, the voices were that bad... And despite the minor enhancements I think whenever I play through the game next...

It'll forever be the DC version of Shenmue II. The story seems more effective with better voice acting (tone, timbre, emotion, timing)... And that feeling of being transported into a foreign land is enhanced through use of subtitles in my opinion.
