The Monster cables look noticeably better than the official ones on my 43" Pioneer. Are they worth ?40? Well, on a smaller screen worth a few hundred quid maybe not, you probably wouldn't notice, but is it worth spending a bit extra on cables on a big screen that cost you thousands? Of course it is. No brainer.

Just a heads up to anyone looking to go over to CEX for PS2 component cables. I was in there today (Rathbone Place) to get a set, and it seems they only have compo****e cables, which somehow went onto the system as component cables.

Did they say that it's like that for all the stores?

He just spoke of that store. At any rate, I can't see many people accepting ?3 trade in for official component cables, so I doubt their other stores will have them

OT:It's the 1st time I've set foot in there in a long time and it is a godawful store. It's too dark, the games etc. are arranged horribly and it smells, the store's only redeeming feature is the bird that was working there
Furthermore I had to queue for ages while numerous people were selling mobile phones to the store meaning long waits for them to test the phones etc. Missions ft:

Maybe chucking a spanner into the works, but I prefer RGB over component on my set. I thought component looked worse, but then again, I think my TV has decent RGB handling.

Either way, try to demo both if possible. Maybe buy both and sell the one you don't want on here.

What happens if you try and play a PS2 game that doesn't support progressive scan via component cables? Does it just not work, or do you get a get a SD image?

You just get an interlaced image.

Would it be equivalent to composite quality?

In case anyone was wondering where to get official PS2 component cables within the UK, they are ?17.48 delivered from the Sony Playstation store. Just ordered a set myself

It'll be about the same as an RGB image on the LCD
