    XP Firewall

Every time I reboot my PC WIndows firewall comes back on even though I have clicked on it to be off due to having a better firewall installed.

Am I missing something really obvious?

    Thanks for any help

You can disable the service, it's called:

    "Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)"

You can find services under Admin tools in the control panel. Right click it. Press stop. The double click and change it to disabled.

    That should work.

Are you using Service Pack 1 or 2? XP Home or Pro?
After turning the firewall off and getting the little angry balloon come up telling you that Microsoft knows better than you, click the balloon and then click the recommendations button. Then put a tick in the "I have a firewall solution..." box and it should stop XP from nagging you again and should also stop the firewall from trying to be clever.
