    Saturn modding

Got given an old Saturn and a couple of Jap games, how easy is it to mod, wire or a chip job?

You can buy an action replay from Lik Sang that lets you play imports, doens't let you play back ups if you wanted to.

Are there any boot discs to buy/burn for the saturn? Plenty of cheap US 3d pads and nights on ebay but at ?20 the action replay probably wont be worth it, may aswell just get PAL nights.

It's pretty easy. I modded mine and I have the soldering skills of an ape. There are other guides around the internet - a good in depth search of Google should turn up some alternatives. The only thing to be a bit wary about is that there are four different versions of the PAL saturn board design. You might have to hunt around for the relevant jumpers if you've got one that's different to the pictures, but they'll be on there somewhere.

Sorry, should have said - you don't need a chip, just two switches and some wire (and solder etc...)

If you're not interested in PAL or US games and just want to lock it into Jap mode then all you need to do is break the PAL jumper settings and solder across the Jap ones, and hey presto instant Jap machine. Remember to change the output to 60Hz as well though.
