Step Down Converter for Sega Saturn?

How many watts does Japanese Sega Saturn produce (is it true 25)? Is 45W stepdown sufficient?

Also i'm puzzled by frequency. According to NTSC guide, i need a stepdown that converts frequency or i can damage the console? Can someone explain?

Also don't transformer damage the consoles over a long period of time?

Lastly will a 45w converter make any noise (humming sound)?

    Will this do?

Look on the back of the system, I believe it's written there. Powering it with a stepdown that has a bigger number is the general idea.

Yup, like vertigo says, 45w should be fine for a saturn.

Its the other way when things can go wrong (like say using a 45w stepdown for a 160w japanese pc..my word the stepdown started glowing with heat after 2 minutes lol)

Not so far as I know, and the humming noise depends entirely on the stepdown, the wattage of it, the wattage of what you're using, etc. I have nothing more juicy than a Gamecube on a step-down
and neither of mine makes any sort of noise.

The one linked to is on ebay but you can also get them from import sites like www.play-asia.com , www.lik-sang.com & places like Maplin.

Make sure you get a step-down that's suitable for the console you intend to use though. The Import FAQ (see Q4) will give you an idea what you need:

              http://www.ntsc-uk.com/tech.php?tech=ImportFAQ

I personally use a 150w stepdown which is sufficient for all consoles up to and including a Jap / US Xbox. The only thing you'll need something more powerful for is the 360 (300w min but I've heard 500w is more reliable).

thanks for the info. But what about the more retro consoles like the nes, snes, md and nomad? ive been using a nomad for quite some time now using a regular uk adaptor. nothings happened so far but am i playing with fire?

kyo_244, recently you have asked numerous questions that have been answered only a short time before, often in the same thread you're posting in, then later repeating your question in a stand-alone thread.
There have been numerous threads on this forum regarding step-down convertors.
You also don't need to ask a seperate question regarding video problems here when the same question was asked by someone else the day before here, a thread which was still present on the front page of the section you were posting in.
Please could you read the information presented in this thread as well as the FAQ tom_nook linked to which contains the answer you're looking for, take a look at how it relates to the consoles you want to use and have a go at working it out for yourself?
                  Thanks.
