VG+ and customs charges...

In a nutshell, I'm thinking of buying myself red MK DS pack from VG+. I've emailed them asking whether or not they mark down the prices on packages but I've not heard back and was wondering if someone on here might know.

Its a good price, and I've decided that since the redesign could be a year or so off, now is a good time for me to buy one. Since they would ship it via courier however, it hightens the change of a customs tax.

No problem whatsoever with them, they usually mark packages as books or at a value of $20 or both.

Do I have to request it or do they do that as standard?

I think they do it "automatically", but I usually write "please mark as gift" in the comments box of my orders as a reflex.

MoFo2 is right that VG+ almost always mark stuff down to $20.

I've never received anything from them by Courier before but I ordered one of the MK DS pack on Friday (shipped 2hrs later!) so will find out shortly.... Will let you know what value they declared when it arrives.

i dont think they ship consoles marked down

My ridge racer 6 was marked down to 20$.
Never ordered a console from them, but aren't you forced to use dhl courier service for their consoles?

Yeah, with consoles the only option seems to be DHL courier delivery.

I'm hoping that the 360's were a one off due to the sheer size of the things & the cost to ship them. Probably no way they could convince customs it was a book worth 20 bucks!!

Myself and a friend ordered a 360 each within minutes of each other,and touch wood we haven't had tp pay import duty yet. That was 20/12 so i think we got lucky.

It was marked as a 'video game toy',and i think for the correct value. Guess the xmas 'business' maybe helped.

Ive ordered a good few things of VG+ over last year and ive never paid any charges at all, everything has always came through as a $20 video game

Got my Mario Kart DS bundle this morning. It was sent DHL and described as a 'toy game' with a value of $20 so no charges here

The DS has a very nice two-tone red & silver colour scheme and thankfully the decals don't come pre-applied as they look s**t.

My PSP came via DHL and it was maked as a $20 dollar toy. Never been stung with them.

Are the games canadian or US? If I order 2 copies of animal crossing will they be US versions or have French all over them?

just to point out DHL lost a PSP that i had ordered from VG+

But Sidney was very helpful and 5 weeks later i got a new machine gratis

so at least you are covered that way
