Lan Kwei: Any good these days?

I'm thinking of ordering stuff from them, but need opinions 1st.

Are they still as bad as they were, or have they shaped up now? Any news is appreciated.

I would very much advise you not to order from there. I ordered quite a substantial amount of stuff from them for them to take my money and not deliver what i ordered. Luckily i did it through my Mastercard so i got the money back. It took 6 months though and the Mastercard Fraud Squad got the money for me.

Id recommend lik-sang for pretty much anything.

Any idea which shipping option I should choose with Lik Sang to avoid the nasty import tax, etc?

theres been a few complaints about them, with people getting ripped off

try other online store like these which i've heard are good for jap/hk stuff

Online shopping for Import Video Games, Digital Codes, iTunes Cards, Mobage & PSN Cards, Movies, Music, Electronics, Computers, Software, Books, Apparel, Personal Care, Toys & more.

Yes, I contacted Tokuda, as I wanted 2 Hori Fighting Stick EX's for the Xbox, but the price was a bit high.

Lan Kwei have the sticks, but I'm not going to bother after what KingMike said.

As a result, I'll get 2 Magic Box converters, and use my Saturn pads.

              Good decision. They are dreadful.

Dunno if they have improved/changed hands, but my past experience of them is not good.

They owe me some credit (only $20 or so) and I have emailed them 4/5 times to place an order and take into account the $20 they owe me, I have received NO replies.
That was over a period of a few months.

Yes they are cheap but it aint worth the trouble, not when people like Tokuda are around.

                  Hi,

Yes Lan-Kwei did have a lot of problems for several months, myself i had over ?1000 owed during this time. But they certainly seem to have sorted themselves out now, my outstanding balance was rectified and i have purchsased over ?5000 in the past month or so - every order has arrived promtly and communication has been excellent.

Good to see Michael etc. back on track, they were (and are again, it seems) a good place to buy from. Not sure who handles generaly sales enquiries there, but for a swift reponse i recommend making your email to Michael - he always seems to be on the ball.

                  Cheers

                  Matt

Please take the advice of the majority of people and avoid them. They're TERRIBLE.
I ordered a Panasonic Q RGB cable from them, which cost $50 + a good $20 or so for quick delivery, 3-5 days. It took over a month, they hardly EVER answered emails until I threatened them, they kept promising to track the parcel and never did. It arrived eventually, and it didn't at all work on my TV. I had to send it to Saurian, who reported the internal work was appalling and fixed it.
Only credit to them is that they refunded the extra I paid for quick delivery, after I asked.
They're just too unreliable to use, and I always feel uneasy and like they're 5 years behind when I have to email my order. Stick with lik-sang who are excellent, complete with great service, order tracking etc. Or of course goblin direct seem good.

I would also recommend the Lik-sang with "Global Priority Mail" delivery option for small stuff, DEAD cheap and FAST usually within 4 - 7 days.

Also Play-asia just can't be faulted, I would not think twice in recommending them (I ordered one of there new Virtual Boys on a Friday, and it arrived on the MOnday morning!)

My advice to everyone, stick to who you know, and who other people are using, if you find some upstart that is under cutting the usual suppliers, they usually never have any stock and there customer service is usually lousy - worth remembering if you are going to buy ?500 's worth of gear and you get any problems!
