Supposedly PAL 360 only plays region 1 DVDs

Well, it looks PAL, in that the option for pal50/60 is on the dash, just like a regular xbox in pal mode (option disappears in ntsc mode of course)

It will only play Region 1 DVDs, but it ONLY plays PAL games!

I don't have any US games, all are PAL, but I have a US Ninja Gaiden and it wouldn't run it due to the game region. I tried PAL PGR3 as I believe the US version is not region free, so I assumed my copy wouldn't be either.

Everything's fine except that the films MUST be Region 1.

Which would be fine if the damn thing played the DVD's in 60Hz

Anyone heard of anything like this?

Does it lock to the first disc you try? The xbox dongle used to lock itself to the region of the first disc you use.

hmm i dunno. it's from work as i'm using it to repair a premium pack with a faulty drive.

the dongle didn't lock itself - the xbox locked itself to the region of the dongle that was used. if you used a region 1 dongle then your xbox got set permanently to region 1, if region 2 then 2. we had a few at work that had this problem and i just used configmagic on them and changed the region to 2.
