    Speaker Wires Too short?

    Hi all

My 5.1 speaker wires are really short.. pretty much sucks because you need the rear speakers right behind and the lead can hardly reach the woofer!

Anyway does someone know of any extension cords I can buy that won't affect sound quality (hopefully) and I can gain a few metres length?

    Where could I buy these?

    Thanks in advance.

I was hoping i did not have to cut my currwent wires and do them back up with del-boy tape....

Is there nothing I can plug in like a adaptor extension?

Yep, Connector blocks. Just screw down the grub screw onto the wire, .....

              Just replace the entire cable.

i'm assuming the cable is just the standard 'in the box' cabling... it'll be cheap stuff anyway so just replace entire lengths of it for ease. you can bodge tape the cheap cabling with no discernable loss of quality but you really don't want to be doing that with these double core 99.9999999999% oxygen free ones, they don't like it.

Why keep the cables the same length?

I wantd to extend the cables that was my whole point?

Or do you mean make every speaker same length lead?

How do I replace the whole wire? I'm gonna have to break open the speaker and disconnect solder etc.

Or do you mean I should cut the wire close to the speaker and reattach the wire above that he linked?

Anymore help is very greatful, cheers.

What kind of cabling is it? I suppose everyone here was assuming it was the usual detatachable, bear wire like most speakers come with... but I'm assuming it's not.
What kind of end does it have?

                        its creative GD580 set

The small black creative 5.1 speakers the wire is attached to speaker and dont think it can unplug..

The leads are very short so kinda need to extend them best way possible and pretty fast everyone is falling over in my room.
                        LOL

Ah.... In which case you have to snip and connect. Or flog it and buy something more suitable to the purpose. These all in one sets are a bit limiting in scope. I was presuming the speakers were standalone units with cables you plugged in. Sorry

if its one set of channels ie left and right back its always better to keep the cables the same length. if you have a pair of speakers with odd lengths the side with the longer run of cable takes more push thus making the amp uneven as it were.
An audiophile buddy of mine pointed this out to me.
