PS2 disc tray not long for this world :(

I have had an orginal PS2 since the Gran Turismo pack came out and have started to notice that the disc tray is taking longer to load back into the machine.Its almost as if it is getting stuck on something.

Has anyone had any experience of this as I cannot imagine it getting any better and dont really need the expense of having to buy a new machine.

Any help for this paranoid PS2 user much appreciated.

Open it up and clean out any dust or gum that you find in there. You might want to invest a few quid into a can of compressed air from an electronics shop, usually about ?6-8.

Cheers for the advice.Been meaning to buy some compressed air from Maplins to clean out my PSP's dirty screen so this will kill two birds...

Looks like a spring clean of my consoles is in order then

Yeh I mean I'm not guaranteeing anything but it might just be all crapped up in there.
