NTSC Xbox 360 - Should I Get One?

I have a PAL 360. I am already looking at the game releases and seeing month long gaps between US and UK.

If I get an NTSC 360 will I still be able to use Live and all the features that I currently have with a PAL one? Silly question but is HD a worldwide spec. There's no PAL or NTSC right?

Would I be able to use my RGB scart on an NTSC 360?

    Thanks Ya'll

I have both (at least for the time being), PAL and NTSC xbox360. The only annoyance for me was that I wasn't able to use the same Live profile on both consoles, when I tried to sign-in with my gamertag on the second console it told me that by doing so I was "resetting" my profile and losing all my saved games on the first machine, so I cancelled the proccess and I've been trying to find a solution.

On the Xbox (I also have both regions) I can log-in with the same gamertag by using a memory card. I'm hoping the same is true for the 360, I just got a memory card, but I didn't have the time to give it a try, I'll do it tomorrow and I'll post the results (if anyone has any suggestion, they are welcomed).

In any case, some games, DoA4 for example, have a lock on the saved content and you cannot transfer them to the memory card, which I find completely stupid, every progress you did on the PAL console will have to be redone.

I am planning to get XBOX 360 next Friday. I got 300Va step down transformer.

I want to be able to play PES 6 on 360 so are there any reason to go for American XBOX 360 apart from the ability to play Halo on it. (I already have 2 XBOX) I also got 62 pounds in trade in credit so far.

Have anyone manage to make it region free yet.

I got the Xbox 360 and Ridge Racer 6 which converted to ?333.69 and I was charged... about ?70 import duty / tax / etc. when UPS delivered it.

I think DHL have a lower handling fee so I'd have gone for DHL delivery if I'd known that at the time.

I also had to get a 300W step down from Maplins, but luckily they were doing it on sale for ?20 when I got my 360. Normally they sell them for ?39.99, I think.

In all seriousness, a Japanese 360 is a great short-term fix... but eventually you'll get sick of X game being in Japanese and end up getting a US/UK model.

To an extent yes. Every TV in Europe sold with the "HD Ready" logo has to support HD at both 50 and 60hz.

I totally agree, I wouldn't get a Japanese one unless I'd plan to mod it. If 360's lifetime is going to be any close to the original xbox, japanese developers support will end up being pretty thin, and you'll be stuck getting western games late, only if you're lucky. For example, Splinter Cell CT took 9 months to see a japanese release, Fable was 6 months late, games like Morrowind or the KOTORs never made it to Japan.

In the other hand, the US Xbox had a slight healthier life than the European one, with more and better priced releases.

By the way, in case anyone wonder, I finally made the test with the memory card, i mentioned on my previous post. I was able to move the profile to the MC and keep the saved games on the HD, meaning that the same profile cannot be physically on two storage mediums at the same time, you just can move it around. That differs from the Xbox, where you could have the Gamertag on the console's HD and the memory card.
