Converting WMV to MP4 for PSP?

I've been trying to convert a few WMV files to MP4 to play on my PSP, using the 3GP Converter, but it only seems to like AVI files. And PSPVideo9 ****ed up the image when I converted in using that.

Anyone know what I may be doing wrong?

    Thanks in advance.

I couldn't get WMV's to convert either, don't think it's possible with PSPVideo9, though I may be wrong, what I did was used free program VirtualDub to convert the .wmv. to a .avi then use PSPVideo 9 as per normal.
Bit long winded but works and no loss in quality.
Drop me a PM if you use this route but get stuck.

I couldn't even figure out how to work VirtualDub. Oh well.

I did try a method mentioned in anothe thread, whereby I changed the extension to .avi from .wmv but 3GP still didn't like that.

          Nice one.

I've managed to convert one file, using a different programme, but it's cut the end off of the file, which is a pain.

Would very much like the whole file on there.

This isn't what you asked, but PMP Mod is a much better media player for the PSP.
Lets you play DivX/Xvid files in the full PSP resolution (unlike the Sony player), admittedly you have to recompile into the special PMP container, but the results are much better.

Right, start up VirtualDub, load the video file, then go to video, compression, then select sixth option down (Divx), then Save as AVI (sixth option down on file menu) and away you go (takes about 10 mins for a 45 minute program iirc).

If you don't use the Divx compression the file is massive - once you've converted a couple of videos it's easier than getting past Sol Campbell in the 18 yard box.

                Bah.

Tried loading the video and I got an error message saying that MS own the ASF format and as such, VirtualDub cannot open those files, because Microsoft asked the developers to remove support for it.

                Cheers anyway.
