Why does Firefox take so bloody long to save images!?

Could someone tell me WHY Firefox takes so bloody long to download images when you right click as go save image as?

It takes an absolute age and in the process completely locks up my entire machine till its finished!!??

I mean it's already downloaded the flipping thing as I'm looking at it so what is it doing this for!?

Does anyone know if this is normal? and if not how can I speed it up? IE just saves things 'SNAP' like that? If it can why can't Firefox?

mines fine tbh, by the time the Firefox Downloads box appears it's already complete.

Turn off the Download box in the prefs and this problem will stop.

Also, if you're downloading more than 1 image from the same page make sure to use DownThemAll, an excellent extension .

how does that work does it let you select which images you want to download from the page ?

Yeah, you get a window which lists everything that can be downloaded off the page you're on and you can select what you want. You can also set it to auto select certain extensions, so downloading all images off a page can be done in just 2 clicks .
