    Freeloader

For some reason, my Freeloader disc won't work on my Pearl White GameCube. It worked fine on my sadly departed black GC, so it's not the disc.

    Any help?

Not heard of that before. By the time you've faffed about trying to solve it, it'll probably be cheaper to buy a J/US cube. (Perhaps you could swap the innards for your pearl innards).

One of the guys who posted in this thread suggests Datel are aware of probs with Freeloader working on Platinum cubes. Might be the same prob with other new models.

Might be worth trying the following:

      - clean the disc & try again (you've probably done this already)
      - beg/ steal/ borrow another copy of FL if you can and try that
      - if all else fails contact Datel and see what they say

Does it work if you turn on the Cube first and insert the disc on the Cube browser menu thing?

Right, I've just sent a mail to Datel; hopefully they'll be able to spread some light on the matter.

Honestly, it had to happen now just after I bought a number of Japanese GameCube games from the Play-Asia sale. Well, suppose it serves me right for neglecting it for so long...

Freeloader will not work with Cubes with the serial number DOL-101, as these ones have different innards and no digital output. I believe Action Replays will do the same job though with use of a certain code

So I can use an Action Replay in place of a Freeloader to play imports?

Indeed you can do. It's better actually because you have the ability to use codes if you hit any problems.

Does anyone out there actually have a GameCube Action Replay that I could perhaps borrow? It's just that I don't want to waste money on something that may or may not work.

                        A question

I tried freeloader with my chipped usa/jap machine. So i could play pno3 pal version but it did not work.Do i need a different version of freeloader? (mine says european version)

I can never get AR to work (for cheats or playing pal games), although I've not tried it much.

How'd you try booting Freeloader and then PN03? There are different ways to do it, and boot an import game

The one I tend to use the most is:

                            1) Start GC, go to the game bit.
                            2) Stick in your Freeloader, run it
                            3) Hit 'Z', select region
                            4) Swap disc.

...and it runs OK like that. Might want to hold 'B' to run it in 60hz and RTFM 'cos that has different boot methods too IIRC.

                            Or, US version get.

Can anyone tell if a pal cube with freeloader will run canadian cube games ? I assume it will and just work under the US option...
