    Japanese Imported PS2 Question

Hey I'm kinda new to the importing scene but I got a hold of a Japanese PS2 for pretty cheap. Anyway I've been trying to get up to speed on everything. I live in the United States. Will I be able to just plug my Japanese PS2 just like my US PS2 and start playing? Or will I have to do conversions and all this other stuff. Well Please let me know.

you can plug in your JPN PS2 into you power outlet with no issue and video cable and etc. shouldn't pose any trouble either...

as long as you insert the game disc labelled with "NTSC-J" that is...

      One slight question

On the topic of games. There are is an Asia version and a Japanese version of the game. Both say NTSC-J in their description. What is the difference. Take for instance Kingdom Hearts 2. There is an Asia version and there is a Japanese version. Anyone help me out?

The difference tends to be that the packaging and manuals are more cheaply produced in the Asian versions (B&W manuals rather than full colour for example). The game itself is essentially identical to the Japanese version. Sometimes Asian versions will also come with a single sheet English translation of the game basics.

          So

So I guess with importing it might be a little better for me to get the Asia version of the game. It is in the original Japanese text though right? The game is exactly the same just different cover art and instruction manual? Hmm it seems the asian version is cheaper I may have to import a few of those.

Yep, the Asian versions are generally cheaper, and still original Japanese text.

Korean version is in NTSC-J as well though many if not all of Korean release get translated into Korean for obvious reason... Sakura Taisen 1, 3, 5Ep0 all got translated with part 2 expected near future...

And some Chinese release get the text translated into Chinese instead of Japanese so be careful...

Sometimes you get lucky with the Asian/Korean versions and get English text (Resident Evil 4, for example).
