New DS = New MK friend code?

Hi guys,

I was just checking out the new version of the DS, and I was wondering how getting a new machine would change things. If I try and go online with my Mariokart on my new DS, do I get assigned a new friend code and lose my win/loss records?

Has anybody switched to an new on and seen what happens?

Yeah, I've had my DS switched (dead pixels) and you need to get a new code for your online games.

It keeps the list of your other friends, but you need to re-register them, if I remember correctly. I think the win/loss is tied to the card though.

your friend code is a combination of the games unique code and the ds unique code so if you change one of them you need to get a new friend code, it will keep all your stored friend codes mind you
