Im not sure if this is the right forum, but.

Could someone please explain the scoring system in ikaruga (ive got the jpn version and the tutorial isnt much help), mainly to do with chaining combos.

It's all detailed in NTSC-UK's reviews. Also watching the demonstrations will teach you how to play.

Just shoot the same colour three times, and try to eat as many bullets as possible

Read the review as Saurian said. And if you have the GC version, go into conquest mode, and you can do the levels in little stages. You can also see the computer do it too...

I've managed to 'get it' and I have no clue about Japanese!

A bit of advice:

"Play really early in the morning! I was playing at three last night and I managed to double my max chain count: 47 now!"
