Grandia 3 or Dragon Quest VIII

Hi ya

Need a little help deciding between the two. I have time (depending on the gf) for one RPG.

I'm kinda leaning towards Grandia 3 at the moment... but I've been reading the Dragon Quest thread and people really seem to like it.

What do you guys think ?

Get grandia 3! Is this grandia extreme by any chance? as i thought grandia axtreme was the third game? i think im wrong.

Infact id get both! why not! if you aint got time for the other game, sell it on. Or save it for when you do have time!

No I think Grandia 3 is a completely new one... due out in a week or so (US)

Seen a few video clips and it looks really good.

I would buy both... but cant really justify it at the moment... especially if I dont really have time to play them.

well, id reccomend gradia 3 cos the games have always been good in my mind and the battles are not random, you actually see the enemy before a battle. Where you gonna be getting this from? the US, or you waiting for the pal version.

Yeah Grandia III is a new game. SquareEnix Europe have stated no interest in releasing the game in Europe (bear in mind GameArts is a part of Enix these days)... but they might be waiting to guage the success of the title in the US, like they did with DQ8.

Wheres the best place at the moment ? VG+ ? DVD Box office has been really poo recently.

That's easy, Dragon Quest VIII.

Mainly due to the enourmous scope - an 80 hours or so of exploration in a non-linear fashion. Love it to bits

Do I not get all that in Grandia too though ? Plus I like the idea of airships (Which I think it has)

never played a dragon quest game, so cant really say, but grandia 3 is jus too good an op to miss. Jus get it pliskin! This i command!

i thought dragon quest viii was the best rpg ive played in many a year. i was hooked from start to finish and i ended up finishing it in 60hrs, a very long time for me on a console rpg. all the characters, story and voicework are all lovable. no one could not possibly rate dragonquest viii highly enough.

Agreed, DQVIII is an incredible game, and one I've completed and heartilly recommend. On the other hand, Grandia III is looking ace too, and I've always been a huge fan of Grandia's combat so.... tough call, but you probably can't go wrong with either!

Regardless of how good Grandia III turns out to be, you'd be a silly sausage?6?4 to skimp on Dragon Quest VIII. A rock-solid traditional RPG with the best presentation I've seen to date on the ol' PS2. The in-game intro movie is enough to turn most hardened RPG nerds into a sobbering mess, simply because it's that majestical.

I heard someone mention that you dont actually see your characters on screen during battles in the DQ series... its not the same in VIII is it ?

Also just how cute is it ? Enough to make you barf ? I think that could bother me....

Where you getting Grandia from Jusatsushi ? I may get both... if I can get them cheap enough.. then see which I like the look of.
