    Jap N64 PSU question

Posted this in a retro thread, but thought I'd get more chance of a response here

Are GC and N64 PSUs the same? I've just got a Jap n64 and it has a Jap PSU. Could I use a UK GC PSU on that N64 without it exploding, or a need for a stepdown?

No, they're totally different. The N64 has that big brick like thing you shove into the back of it I reckon you got GC/N64 mixed up, huh?

A UK N64 power supply will work fine.

      Ah right.

I have a universal travel adaptor, and I can charge my US PSP on it without a stepdown, and I've found this about it on a website...

The 4 most common adapter plug configurations are all conveniently housed in a compact, easy-to-use single piece unit with safety shutters, power light and a built-in surge protector that keeps your appliances safe from spikes in the flow of foreign electricity."

Does that mean it acts as a stepdown?

        Sorry, but it also says:

        "Electrical Rating: 125V 15 amps and 250V 10 amps."

        ...?

        Link to page

        It's the # TS-237AP adaptor.

Nope, it stops power spike from blowing **** up*. I think (I don't really know ) PSPs come with a universal power supply, like a PSTwo.

          * 'cos DC current is prone to doing crazy stuff like that.

edit: Yeah, that one looks OK. I thought it was just a straight forward adapter

D'oh, so I need a UK PSU or a stepdown?

I have no money for either...

            Balls.

The PSP psu is multi-voltage so that can be plugged straight into a UK mains

the N64 one should only be a change of PSU to a uk one or a stepdown

crime converters might be able to help you out for pennies
