    Dreamcast official Vga box

    Hi people

Can anyone tell me where I would get a Japanese official Vga box for the Dreamcast and what a reasonable price for one is as well.

Also my monitor runs all msorts of resolutions and I use it for my 360, but it only plays the 360 in full screen at the highest resolution for the Xbox 360, so would it do the same for the Dreamcast??

The monitor for reference is an Hitachi CM813ET plus.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

The official Sega DC VGA box is very difficult to find, but most 3rd party ones do the job rather nicely. The DC VGA resolution is 640x480 @ 60hz

Third Party ones have the advantage of offering VGA/S-Video switch - with this you can trick various non-VGA games into booting in VGA.

Can you recommend me one please or point in the right direction where I can get one of these?

It would be good if I could play all my Dreamcast games on my monitor...

It doesn't work on all games, just manages to trick most non-VGA games into working.

I have a Blaze one, but the trick will work on any VGA box that lets you switch between VGA and S-Video. You simply have to boot up in S-Video mode, then switch to VGA at the right time on the 'Produced by' screen. The game thinks it's still in S-Video mode, but it's running in VGA.

There can be some side effects. Dino Crisis for example, the game works fine but the movies don't appear.

I'm sure I read somewhere, someone just snipping a wire or summat to get all games working... Surely it's summat as simple as that to get it all working!

Try Jandaman for a decent DC vga box only $10US plus postage.
