I'd stick with component. I've used both for a good amount of time, and while VGA does give a marginally better picture, the framerate in many games (e.g. Ridge Racer, COD2, King Kong) is quite a lot worse. I'd much rather take a small hit on PQ than a large hit on framerate.

Component looks better on my Samsung DLP, VGA just looked washed out by comparison. I could get closer results by changing the TV's colour settings but then everything else looks rubbish.

Got my VGA cable today, changed to resolution of 1360 x 720 as its the only one which fits my size screen apart from 1024 x 768. Early impressions, Ive not noticed framerate drops so far, but as said earlier, the colour is very much more washed out than it was on component. Its almost like the difference between PAL and NTSC, PAL being a more colourful, rich format.

The framerate issue is either a 360 issue (frame buffer can't handle 1360x768 without a performance hit) or a TV issue (TV doesn't like VGA). Either way, it seems fairly widespread and people have reported the same experiences on a large number of different TVs (e.g. Sony Bravias, Toshiba and Samsung). What ever the cause the problem varies from game to game (which to me implies it is a 360 issue).

You have RR6 right? On my setup, in 1360x768 VGA the scrolling text on the select screen jerks along really noticeably. In game the framerate isn't too hot either, especially when the view pans around. With 720p and component the text scrolls smoothly an the frame rate is rock solid. In contrast, DOA4 is just as fluid to my eyes in VGA or component.

Ive had to push my settings to Dynamic, 100+ Contrast, and lower brightness. Add a warm white balance and Im getting better results. Its a shame the colour is so washed out though. Not decided if Ill stick with VGA yet, the main reason I changed was because my component switch box is acting up a bit.

Sorry to sound like a moron guys but i need 'elp.

Just got my official VGA lead delivered today. I have a 17" Philips widescreen TFT. I have set the resolution to 1280 X 768 (The resolution of my windows desktop)

Is there anything else I can do to get a better picture? Its still not as good as playing a PC game on the same monitor.
