    21" TV recommendations?

    Howdy,
I'm looking for a new 4:3 Telly perferably 21" (i think anything bigger is too big for my needs).
It's basically to play my old consoles so 2 scarts would be nice bit it's doubtful that both would be RGB.
This Philips looks quite decent http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...203659-8285244 (i think i had the old model of this a while back)

    Any others?

Personally, I'd be looking at the cheaper sets available. I don't know if somewhere like Currys would still have a lot of 21" screens on display, but if they do, I'd take a console and RGB lead with me, and try them out.

Ideally the set will have no sharpness adjustment, and lock out the colour control when sent RGB.

"Better" televisions typically start doing processing to the image, and as such, don't look nearly as good with RGB as they should. If the set does not lock out the colour control, I wouldn't (personally) buy it, if it's for use with retro systems.

Our old Sony and Daweoo 14" portables do this (the Sony doesn't even have a sharpness control) as does the 21" Daewoo we have. Now, the Daewoo sets don't have the best tubes, but still manage to look better than newer sets I've seen that don't lock out RGB. The Sony on the other-hand, looks fantastic, as it's got a great trinitron screen, and doesn't really touch RGB signals at all.

The only downside is that with a television like this, there is probably not going to be colour temperature adjustments, or a way of getting into a service menu of some sort to change this, so you will probably be left quite a rather "cool" display. (everything with a blue cast)

A lot of people seem to put their displays onto the "cool" temperature if they have the option though, so that may not be an issue for you.

I've got a 28" Sanyo that I got from Empire last year, and that gives a great picture through RGB, especially off a Dreamcast for some reason. It displays literally any region console through any connection method in colour, too.

      I think they had a 21" model...

Whilst people are thinking about the 21 inch for the first poster, can anyone suggest a good 28 inch CRT 4:3 TV? (Im not going Hi-Def just yet, and I find widescreen abit annoying for games as most dont support it)

Currys sell a flatscreen 4:3 21" Samsung for ?130 to ?150 (depending if it's on offer). I've got one and it's great.

            Just bought this one http://www.empiredirect.co.uk/conten...ke~Philips.htm

Got it for a measly ?30 from ebay. I had a short drive and picked it up from a dodgy geezer in a Toys R Us carpark. Went 25" in the end which is about as large as i can get in my new study (when i finally move, sigh).
