    Gamecube Component vs. VGA

    Whats better out of these?

    thanks

You mean the GameCube modded VGA cable?

To be honest, they look disappointingly the same. I was quite suprised actually. Also, do remember that most games only run at 480i/576i, which most VGA monitors do not support.

I use the modded VGA cable because my TV likes VGA better than Component, and supports 480i over Component fine. But for 99% of people, stick to the Component cable.

AFAIK the vast majority of NTSC games have a progressive scan option.

I think he means 480p, which is progressive scan from the GC.

Nah I meant 480i. It's just that a large amount of Gamecube titles, even NTSC titles, are still only 480i (increasingly since the Digital Out port was dropped), so your still pretty screwed if you've got a VGA cable and no screen thats supports 480i over VGA.

A large amount of NTSC games support Prog. Scan, but not enough so that it's really a good situation.

And seriously, I'm a really big pusher of VGA as AV people round here will know, but the picture I get from my GameCube over VGA really does look exactly the same as the GameCube over Component (probably because it's just a quick hack job of the DAC). I just run my GameCube through VGA because my TV likes VGA better, and my TV supports 480i over VGA.
