Can anyone recomend me an RPG for any console?

I've recently been playing action games and quirky games (like Chibi Robo). I want a good, long RPG to get stuck into. I've got a PS2 (PAL Only though), Xbox+360 (same), Gamecube (any), DS and a PSP.

Try Grandia II on the PS2? Don't know about the length though, but it's not that short.
The battles are excellent. (And all the digs Ryudo makes at religion made me chuckle).

Try Final Fantasy VII. It was so long(winded) that I gave up on it before finishing the first disc

It's old school but Breath of Fire 3 on PSP or PS1 is excellent.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for XBox. Classic game, I don't usually play RPG's, but loved this

You can't go wrong with a decent dose of Pokemon. Try Pokemon Emerald for the GBA (playable on the DS)

I've got my eye on Dragon Quest VIII, looks great. How long would you say it is?

If you rushed through, probably about 50 hours, but if you do the sub-quests, explore a lot (and you will more than likely want to - the world is so lush) and get the better ending then probably upward of 80.

I clocked in at around 82 hours and can honestly say I found none of it a chore or boring at all, which is rare in most RPG's.

dragon quest 8 (is this out yet in the uk?)
final fantasy 6 (snes/psx)
paper mario 2 (gamecube)

those 3 are truly brilliant. its a shame you domt have an american psx because some total classics came out over there (dragon warrior 7, xenogears, chrono cross, final fantasy tactics)
