    Dreamcast Broadband adaptor..

    Hi,

I just wondered if it's possible to use the Japanese/US (if there was one) version of the aformentioned device in a PAL console?

    Thanks!

Yep! But you will need a chipped console to run the browser software from whatever region you get it from.

    Think that's about right.

Nah, for that you need to BBA equivilant of a serial slave bootdisc to make it possible to send binaries over the network cable...

I've tried it with a PAL DC and it works fine.

Cool. Do you know where to get the required bootdisc? (if we're allowed to say here)

Afaik the slave disk was written with a homebrew api, so its about as legal as it can be. Here:

If you are thinking about playing games I read on CVG website that the Dreamcast servers have all been shut down apart from PSO I & II. Worth bringing to your attention me thinks.....

Most homebrew sites will sort you out... as mentioned it's 100% homebrew with no Sega copyright code used at all.

I'll have a poke through my backups for an image of the CD and put it "somewhere" if I find it...

If you're happy to look for it yourself make sure you get the right disc. The serial slave boot cd only works through the DC serial port so that's the wrong way to go... I can't for the life of me remember what the BBA compatible disc was called. I got fed up with DC coding when I discovered how simple it was to write code for the fancy shader hardware in the newer Geforce cards.

I think the PSO servers were shut down a couple of months ago aswell.

You can still use DreamPassport3, Planetweb3, DreamEye, DreamFlyer...

It is still the best hardware tool for homebrew dev.

Or you could do something like this:
