x box to monitor?

I have just moved to a small room and I have a pc but no tv.
I will buy a nice HD one soonish but for now Im going without.

Can the original x box be hooked up so it can display on a monitor screen?

Yes and no.

Devices such as the VD-Z3 allow you to hook your XBox up to a PC monitor and even use HD modes. But if you have a PAL machine, it needs to be modded so you can run the Enigmah VideoMode switcher app to patch the video output to NTSC, then enable the 480p mode in the dashboard.

You can soft mod with a copy of (rented or otherwise) MechAssault. It's non-invasive, i.e nothing gets left on the hd that will screw up your Xbox live play.
