IBARA Picture and Sound quality issue on PS2 on HDTV

I got Ibara for Jap PS2 this morning and gave it a quick bash.

I think the sound is awful as I can't hear the shoot them ups action very clearly and the speech is fine and tried turning up the volume.

The picture is a little blocky.

Is this due to connecting my PS2 on HDTV via component or the game graphics. I think it is first time I play Shoot them up on my new TV.

The picture is blocky because its been adapted to display at a higher resolution and has also been filtered, It doesn't look great on a standard def TV via RGB scart either.

It will look even worse being scaled on a HDTV because of the murky filtering which will probably add even more blur than normal.

Also are you using the digital Out for the sound ?. Becasue SEGA Rally had much the same troubles (muffled sound) through component , but is bloody ace thought digital

Yeah Optical mate, even if a game doesn't have digital surround sound support ect, it will always sound better through Digital/Optical.
