Tower on floor

Due to an influx of new hardware, and reorganising all this, it seems like the best place for my PC tower is on the floor (i.e. on the actual carpet). I was just wondering if this was 'safe' with regards to static build-up etc, and if anyone was indeed doing this already?

My PC sits on carpet mate and has done for a couple of years no probs at all

The case of your PC is earthed when you plug it in, whether it's actually switched on or not, so static wouldn't affect it at all.
