Connecting NTSC Xbox to PAL TV

I recently sold my NTSC Xbox to a mate but he's been having problems connecting it to his TV.

I always used the S-Video cable and hooked up to red, white and yellow on the TV. However, his TV doesn't have this.

He's got one of those scarts where you can plug the red, white, and yellow
leads in and then plug the scart into the back of the TV. Problem is that doesn't appear to be working either.

He lives a fair bit away so I'm going to pop round next time I'm in the vicinity. Just wondering if anyone on here could suggest what the problem is?

The TV is definitely switched on!

Some PAL TVs only like an NTSC signal through RGB, so it might be worth a try to get the Advanced SCART pack and see if it works that way.

Thanks for that. So, the Advanced Scart Cable (see link) sold in the UK will work fine with an NTSC Xbox?

Should do. My brother has a US Xbox which he ran through the official SCART with no problems.
