    CHIP fan

i keep on getting the following warning message on the POST screen along with bleeps

"CHIP fan disabled or set at low speed"

I go to setup and it says that my chip fan speed is at 0 rpm

The computer starts up fine and i havent had any problems

Does anyone know what this means and what i should do about it?

If you open up the case, look at the fan above the CPU and see if its spinning or not, if its not, check connections as without it its a sure-fire way to fry a CPU.

the fan sounds to have stopped working or the fan doesn't have the rpm monitoring on it its usually the third wire on them

If you haven't had any crash problems or temp warnings your fan is probably still working - CPUs will fry in minutes even seconds without any cooling - best check it's still spinning, and if it is, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

The CPU fan is still running. However on my setup screen ive got seperate monitors for the CPU fan and the CHIP fan which leads me to think that they are 2 different things. Could it possibly be the mobo fan, as mine has a small one which doesnt seem to be running?

It'll be that then, your chipset cooling fan needs replacing.
