    360 help needed!

So I downloaded the latest update and Ridge Racer 6 wont load for ****. Tried it from a direct boot, from the dash, with the hd on,hd off, online and off.

    Nowt.

Rang Microsoft and the guy said the update could be 'stuck',and i need to open the ports udp 88,udp 3074,and tcp 3074.

Went into my router's homepage and selected port forwarding from the left hand menu which took me to here.
Nowhere is there a mention of what type of port i wish to open, and as you can see i added the 360 and allowed it to use every port.
Still wont load. Is there anything immediately obvious i'm doing wrong? The router is a Netgear wrg614 v4.

The second MS person i spoke to said it's not port forwarding i need to access, but firewall settings.

    Thanks in advance.

I'm using the same router fella, I always tend to start and end the port on the same number mate.

Bloody update eh? Bricked my one!

Do you have a STRICT NAT when testing the xbox live settings?

Came up as moderate, and then i read the description. Would i now need to change router's,thanks to this update?

My Netgear is into another 4 port router, which is where the net comes into the house.

Added 88 and 3074,starting and ending with the same number, and have now deleted the RR6 save,as MS said it could be corrupt.

        ?

Yeah make sure UPnP is active as well, helps matters as well I believe.

if its just the update that is stuck then just bypass the router and plug directly into the modem, or is it going to be the same everytime ti tries to connect?

Just done that mate, left it at the default settings. You think that's ok?

              Also,does this seem right?

You mean connect directly to the first 4 port router, bypassing the Netgear wireless one?

Yeah, that should be ok. (The port forwarding)

That may not be the cause of it though. My router has been set to strict for the last two updates.

Doesn't seem right though, the fact that your RR6 is now messed proves the updates got through surely?

Just tried the 360 direct into the first router, bypassing the Netgear, and still the same.

Reckon this means sending the machine back?

Anyone sent back a US machine to MS UK?

(getting really good at pacman now though)

Been told now that i have voided my warranty of my US machine by plugging it into a stepdown,as thats not how its intended to be used.

                          Ho hum.

Last bloke (no 3) was very helpful, and suggested waiting for the next RR6 update to come out and see if it works then.

Also suggested maybe deleting my hd,not just the RR6 save, and seeing if that has any effect.

                          Would you do it?

So they would have honoured the warranty if it was using a UK supply? That seems more than a bit silly - how would using a stepdown stop a game from loading?

As for deleting the save, if it was me I'd do it. But then I'd probably moan like a right bugger if it doing that didn't fix anything.

Wipe your whole HDD? Like crap would I if I were you. (That said, my Ridge save is probably the only thing I'd be that fussed about losing, so I guess it's a no-win situation anyway. )
