Does the Jap version come with a rumble pak? I've just won one on eBay and it doesn't have one...

It was released with & without a rumble pak I believe.

I think all JP copies should come in the big box with rumble pak - StarFox 64 was the game that showcased it first.

The pic in the auction DC won isn't an oversize box though is it? It looks regular N64 size to me - i.e. no room for a rumble pak?

Or was the game housed in an even bigger box?

Yeah, that one in the auction is the regular box. One of those is normally inside an even bigger box with a cardboard divider and the rumble pak.

Saying that though, all the other games that include peripherals (Perfect Dark, Majora's Mask, Donkey Kong, Mariokart etc) came in two versions, so I stand to be corrected.
